NEW MEMBERS AND JUDGES
(1) Introductory Information: This document is a copy of the information that is on the homepage of this website, which describes general facts about our team. You can also look at our (2) Recruitment Pamphlet for a simpler approach to the information.
(3) Schedule 2010-2011: This document lists the tournaments we are interested in attending this year.
(4) Mock Debates: This document describes the expectations of debaters and judges in mock debates that we host at weekly meetings, usually once a month. New members should read this document to understand how mock debates work on our team.
(5) Case Building and Resolutions: This document briefly describes what is included in a debate case, includes two example cases, and lists example resolutions for each of the three styles. New members who want to know the foundation of debate arguments should review this document.
(6) The By-Laws: This document is a copy of the team's By-Laws, which essentially are a list of rules the team must follow. Most of them are general guidelines, but we occasionally host a By-Laws Convention where we edit the document if need be.
(7) The CDA Style of Debate: This document describes the typical day and logistics of a CDA Tournament, the style of CDA, strategies debaters should use during the debate, Rebuttals Information, and Cross Examination Workshop. We recommend that you print this packet out and keep it with your debate belongings when you attend your first CDA Tournament.
(8) The Public Forum Style of Debate: This document describes the differences between the styles of Public Forum and CDA, as well as the speaking order in PF. You can also look at the NFL (9) Guide to Public Forum that describes the style in greater depth.
(10) The Parliamentary Style of Debate: This document describes the third style of debate that we teach in the spring, which includes the differences between Parliamentary and CDA, as well as strategies to succeed in the style since it is probably the most difficult.

(12) Forms: This document is a collection of all the important health and permission forms members and judges will have to fill out before attending debate events. It includes the following in this order:

(A) Program Permission Form: Each debater needs to fill this out and have their parents sign it once in order to attend all CDA Tournaments in the 2010-2011 year. Make sure to hand it to a member of the Board before your first CDA Tournament.(B) Driver's Form: Each adult judge/driver needs to fill this out once for all tournaments in the 2010-2011 school year. Make sure to hand it to a member of the Board before driving debaters to a tournament for the first time this year.(C) Student Driver's Form: Each student needs to fill this out once for all CDA Tournaments in the 2010-2011 school year. Although we carpool to and from tournaments, students may need to drive themselves for other purposes (arriving late, leaving early, etc.).(D) Individual Trip Form: Each debater needs to fill this out and have a parent sign it for each national tournament the student attends. The Board will inform debaters about the information that goes on the form and the deadline to hand it in when registering for each tournament.(E) Student Responsibility Form: Each debater needs to fill this out whenever classes will be missed due to a debate event.
